daniel stessen was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. He graduated from Syracuse University and continued his studies at the National Theater Institute (NTI) in Waterford, Connecticut. Though he entered NTI an actor, he left with a focus in directing and playwriting. He directed theater and experimented with several forms of art in Brooklyn before moving to Los Angeles, where he taught himself how to make films.
daniel's video for Ben Harper and Relentless 7's Skin Thin was an official selection of the 2011 SXSW film festival. This following his 2010 SXSW official selection of Chris Garneau's Fireflies.
